.flv Video playback now available on APR Blogs!
While this feature is something that has taken some time to produce, it is not very user friendly just yet. Please speak to your local webmaster before attempting this on your own!
To post a video to the site, one must first have their video converted to Flash Video Format, ensuring to retain the proper metadata (width, height, etc) to ensure the correct format is displayed.
This example was created with help from iMovie, which exported to MPEG 4. I then converted the video to FLV format by using ffmpegX (which requires the encoder and player from mplayer, as well as the mpeg2enc binary. Once that was installed, I also had to compile the only flv metadata reader available for OS X: flvtool2. This was made much easier by this forum post. :)
In the near future, I plan to implement a more complete video blogging solution- but for now, it’s good to have the ability in hand!
